what can I do.

Hi guys I have a problem with my blog.  It says I have nine followers but when I go to (View Blog) at the top of the page it only shows me seven. So I was wondering if someone would know what to do.
So to get back to diabetes well I'm feeling great and it is only annoying to me if I'm doing something and I have to test or inject.  It doesn't hurt any more to inject or test unless I'm tired or pissed off but besides that it is great.  I hope all the diabetics are feeling as great as me and my followers too.

So ..... yeah ..... :P

Hi Guys,

I have put in a new poll so you can vote on my blog and tell me if it's informative, awesome, interesting, or stupid. so yeah ....

Lately I have been going pretty well but a while ago I was very tired and if you're tired it makes things a lot more painful ... literally! So I advise you not to get tired whilst putting insulin into your body, mate.

Ummm, OK - hopefully Mom will let me buy a new phone for $50 in K'mart, because Marlee, Izi's best friend, bought one there.

Hope everyone out there that looks at my blog that has type one diabetes is feeling well. And all those normal ones as well, of course! Like ... some of my friends :) sorry, can't name anyone. he he he.

Now imagine....

Now, imagine if you were this man.  If I was this man I would poo my pants because it would make me feel like soooo scared.  I hope none of you guys have come sooooooo close to dying.  It makes me think twice before I go and swim out deep, but a shark has not been sighted in Warrnambool for 45 years so that makes me feel a little better but not much.  I hope the people that have diabetes are feeling good today because I am feeling great.  If you are not you should watch a movie or some TV and if you do not like that you can also play soccer or cricket.  If that does not help then I really do not know what would.  I just bought a new watch from K'mart so that is good for me anyway.  You could also swim at the beach if you live near it.  I DO.  Good for me.  HAHAHA.  That was fun - I want to do it again.  No silly .  Why not ?  OK I'll stop the act.

Going well

Hi guys.  I know I haven't updated my blog for a long time but I've felt well for sooooooooo long I haven't had anything to write about.  I am very well and I've gotton used to all the pricking of my fingers to test how high my glucose is and I've also got used to the insulin.  Sometimes I even give myself one shot of insulin in the morning if I'm having pancakes, which I'm having this morning so that will be very yummy.  I'm also having a friend over for a play this afternoon.  On friday I went to watch my sister act in cats which is about stray cats.  It was awsome to watch and I got to see some friends of mine at the performance too.

Friend

Today I was 10.7 at morning tea so I was not aloud any carbs. Instead I had some salami, cheese, avo and ham.  At lunch I was 5.7 so eating all those non carbs was really good.  Today a friend is coming over for a couple of days which is great because I have not seen her in two months.  She will come for three days.  I do not know why she is coming for such a short time. I think the reason I have not seen her is because she lives 12 hours away.  Here name is Janie and she is awesome!!!!  Janie will arrive at 2.00pm today.

No needles!

Yesterday I ran out of needles Accu-check Mobile tester and so I had to prick myself with a really painful needle and I was not too impressed.  Today Mum got some needles which was great.  I did not tell you me and Mum got the wrong needles in the first place, so that was not a great start.

Eye test

Today I had my eyes tested to see if they were bleeding.  I know what your thinking, that sounds terrible but it is not too bad.  What they meant is that when you get diabetes, if your levels are too high too often it can lead to blindness.  But it would have to be very bad and very poor control.  You can't see it unless it is really bad and then your vision will be bad in other words blurry.  The good thing is that it does not hurt.  Now I have to go because I can barely keep my eyes open.

No morning injection!

Just lately they said I do not need to do my morning insulin, if my lunch time levels are okay.  The paediatrician said I am only taking half the amount of insulin for my body weight. I thought that they were going to bump my insulin dose up my body is making enough at the moment which is great. So now I do three injections a day.

All this darn pricking...

One of my friends is coming over for a play but I have to test to see if I can have some of the yummy muffins my sister made.  I am very annoyed that I have to prick my self before I can eat the muffins but at least I can eat afterwards.  Don't you think by now they would have come up with some type of cure for diabetes.  Dar yes!!! They should of come up with sum sort of cure?

Medical Necklace

Soon I am getting a necklace so if I had a very bad hypo and couln't tell anyone that I was diabetic and I went to hospital they would read the back of it and know I need insulin.  The necklace will be here on Friday I hope but it is already overdue by two weeks which is very annoying!

My new tester

I've just been given a new tester called Accu-check Mobile.  It does not hurt at all when I prick my finger and so I do much more checking of my blood. This helps me have a stable blood sugar more often because I can adjust my eating and insulin.  It gives me more of a normal life and I can almost do what I used to ...but I still do not play soccer and basketball but maybe this term I will.  I am getting a case to hold my Accu-check mobile so I can have it on my side.

Support Group

Hi guys, sorry I haven't updated my blog for a while but I've been quite busy.
Yesterday I went to a support group for type one diabetes families.  They showed me a new type of pricker (glucose tester).  They also gave me a booklet of about a super hero squad that explains diabetes for older kids instead of the teddly bear books they use for younger kids.  This book is cool because it is fun to read  -it is done in cartoon style.
This week I have had quite a lot of hypos and quite low readings after I played ten minutes of  basketball. But after we had a meeting with some of our new friends with diabetes they said to take some sort of sugar boost just before playing sport and then about ten minutes later have an apple or something to sustain you. We also reduced my insulin by a couple of units and it has stopped me from having so many hypos which is great. But now my blood glucose is a bit high which is OK for a little bit but I may have to have more carbs or insulin.... so we have to keep a close eye  on it.

My Birthday

Today is my birthday! And I got a new bike, a Justin Bieber CD, three surf mags and a video about bodyboarding, and The Diary of a Wimpy Kid book. Plus I got a boardgame and some fishing gear.  I went out for lunch for my birthday but I still had to count my carbs and give myself insulin - not in public - just in the back of the car before I ate.  I ate some lamb korma, pita bread, rice and had a juice.  Mum's birthday gift for lunch was to let me not worry about doing a finger prick.  I think that was a really good present.
This afternoon I am having two friends over and after dinner I am having a big piece of  baked cheesecake...which sounds real good!! Kids with type 1 diabetes are allowed to eat cake too! I turned 11.

Problems with sore fingers

It is so annoying when my finges are sore and I have to prick them because it really hurts. Every few days I have to change my glucose needles. The thing is, I keep forgetting to change them so every week it hurts a lot. Sometimes even when I put a new needle in it still hurts which really annoys me!!!!!!!!! My paediatrician told me that I can prick my forearm instead of my fingers which sounds really good but I do not want to try it because I think it might hurt more than my fingers. If anyone has tried pricking their arms please tell me what it feels like.

Having to wait

It's really annoying when I wanted to write on my blog this morning because Mum called me to test my blood.  So instead of just writing I had to wait.  That really annoyed me!  Most of the time I have to stop what I am doing and test my blood and give myself some insulin.

The different shots I have to give myself

I use two different types of  insulin: Novarapid and Lantus.  Novarapid  hurts less because I inject myself with a small dose.  Lantus hurts so much that sometimes I even cry because it is a much bigger dose.  The needles are much longer than the finger-pricking ones because they have to be pushed all the way under your skin.  But the finger ones hurt more which is really weird because they only just puncture the skin.

Welcome To My Blog

Hi! My name is Nicholas. I am an 11 year old boy that lives at the coast in Australia.

Two weeks ago I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I have decided to set up this blog to help other kids with diabetes, and tell them how I feel. Because I know what you're going through.

Occasionally, when I'm really irritated with diabetes, I go into my room and swear my head off!! Sometimes just to scream and yell it makes you feel better.

We just recently moved states, which made finding out about diabetes even worse. Seeing old friends helps you to deal with all the pricking. I have to prick myself at least four times a day, to check my blood glucose.

Hope you like my blog so far.
